    Description

1872 Forepaugh’s Aggregation Circus Kit Clarke Press Agent Identification Badge/Fob. An incredible one of a kind piece of circus history! Purchased from a private estate in the North Shore of Chicago. (Winnetka, IL). Adam Forepaugh was an American entrepreneur, businessman, and circus owner, who rose from a poor working-class background to own the circus which was Barnum and Bailey’s only contemporary rival/competitor. Forepaugh was responsible for many innovations in circus history, influencing circuses for many years. Bircher “Kit” Clarke was the press agent for Adam Forepaugh’s circuses at a young age. He was the press agent in 1872 and later rose to the rank of assistant director. He is credited with being the originator of the alliterative paragraph advertising method with Forepaugh’s Circus. Later, Clarke went on to manage Haverly’s Minstrels, and then American Magician Harry Kellar. Most of this information coming from excerpts from the New York Clipper. This is an absolutely incredible piece of American circus and entertainment history. Shipped With USPS Priority and Fully Insured. What you see is exactly what you get!!
