Lincoln Gold and Coin is excited to bring you this unique piece of entertainment memorabilia. This 5 cent scrip with serial number #1309 was issued in 1933 to commemorate the "Golden Jubilee" 50th anniversary of the 1883 founding of the Ringling Brothers Circus in Baraboo, Wisconsin. The front includes the portrait of John Ringling with designs of roaring lions and trumpeting elephants in the corners, while the back depicts a tiger and lion with a scene of a crowd entering the large circus tent.
This note is roughly 4 1/2" wide by 2 1/2" tall. This particular note seems to exhibit some ink transfer, likely from being stored in a stack with other scrip notes, as evidenced by the faint impression of another note's obverse design on the reverse. Nevertheless it is in nice crisp uncirculated condition and would be an unforgettable gift for a circus fan or entertainment history
