    Description

    Carnival Knock-Down Target Figure, c. 1917-18, World War 1 German Soldier. Provenance: Marvill Collection.
    The knock-down soldier, made by an unknown American soldier from South Dakota. is approximately 21 3/4 inches in height (without its stand )and made of wood, metal, nails, polychrome, and traces of cloth. It is missing its spike on the helmet. The head is hinged and would fall back when struck.
    The figure is on a custom stand.
    It was auctioned at Skinner's on November 3, 2018 , fig. 15, and sold as a black carnival knock-down.
    The condition is excellent commensurate with age.
