CDV Don C. MacIver -- circus sideshow magician, mystic for Ringling, Mills Bros

Description

This is a very nice original carte de viste (CDV) of 20th century circus sideshow performer Don C. MacIver, with some of the props he used in his act.  He was nationally known as a magician, mystic, and lecturer.  He was on the show with Ringling-Barnum, Sells Bros., Mills Bros., among others.  One of his favorite acts involved an electric chair.  MacIver went blind for a period in the 1940s and had at least one operation.  CDV is in fair-good condition; there are two light creases across the middle; MacIver or someone else wrote MacIver's name in pencil across the bottom; the front has light soiling.  MacIver apparently also used this card as his business card; his name, title ("America's most entertaining mystic"), and address in Tunnelton, W. V. are on the back.  This CDV was taken out of a scrapbook by a previous owner; it has glue and paper residue on it.  Size is about 2-1/4" x 4".  Several more circus/sideshow CDVs from my collection going up shortly.  Be the buyer!

ITEM CONDITION: I try to call all defects, dents, folds, nips, nicks, chips, skips, stains, tears, scratches, rips, wrinkles, etc. Please e-mail me with questions before bidding.
PAYMENT: Payment MUST BE RECEIVED within seven (7) days of end of auction. I gladly combine shipping on most items; if not sure, ask me before you bid.
SHIPPING: I ship at least three times a week, normally on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
PAPER ITEMS: Paper items such as  postcards, pamphlets, trade cards, sheet music, etc. normally are shipped in a rigid holder or with cardboard in a soft bubble envelope or in a cardboard envelope. I pack EVERYTHING carefully.
RETURNS: I will gladly accept a return if I describe an item inaccurately. You must notify me within 14 days of receipt of the item, and the ad description must have been markedly incorrect. I will reimburse the full purchase price and the return postage. I MUST receive the item back in the same condition I sent it out.
