1995 US Postal Service Commemorative Stamp "Wolf" Carousel Horse by Daniel Muller circa 1905 with First Day of Issue stamp and bookmark
Life is a carousel...PJ's Carousel Collection Horse pieces are proudly made in Newbern, VA.  Each piece is cast from an original which was sculpted by local Virginia artists.  Pieces are duplicated in miniature detail from actual photos of the original.  The piece is molded and poured with Gemwood (a wood product), base coated and hand-painted in traditional carousel colors.  Each piece is identified to its original carver style with an engraved metail plate and informative hang tag.  Each piece in the PJ collection is sure to bring back many fond memories and will be treasured as a collectors item in future years.
Included with this gorgeous sculpted horse auction is a United States postal service first day of issue "Carousel Horses Indian Pony" stamp from Jul 21, 1995 Lahaska, PA.  It is on an envelope with a cutout and gold stamp on velvet.  Very impressive!
Comes with excellent condition PJ horse, hang tag, postal envelope (with the gold/velvet insert) and a laminated bookmark of the drawing of the USPS stamp and the hanging little gold carousel replica on the bookmark.
In 1888 the Muller family moved to Sunnytown, PA which was close to the Dentzel Carousel factory.  John Henry Muller and sons Daniel and Alfred were hired by Gustal Dentzel.  Around 1899 Daniel and Alfred left the Dentzel company for the newly formed Philadelphia Toboggan Company (PTC).  The brothers formed the D.C. Muller & Brother Co. which provided carousel figures to the PTC until 1906.  The two brothers were excellent carvers but the unique skills of Daniel were the driving force of the company. The brothers produced carousels for numerous companies and operated several themselves.  They returned to the Dentzel Co. in 1917 and carved until the demise of the Dentzel factory in 1928.  Daniel Muller died at the age of 79.
