UP FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION A MAGNIFICENT EXTREMELY RARE HEAVY CARNIVAL STRONG-ARM MAN MALLET 1800sTHE MALLET WAS USED TO RING A BELL HIGH UP ON A VERTICAL RAIL. IT WAS A POPULAR CIRCUS GAME BACK THEN AND STILL IS TODAY. THIS MALLET IS MASSIVE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. OVERALL LENGTH IS 36" THE HEAD ALONE IS 8" x 10" WEIGHTING A WHOPPING 20 POUNDS. HANDLE IS HICKORY WITH A TREE BURL BARKED HEAD. IT HAS FORGED BLACKSMITH MADE IRON STRAPS. THE CONDITION IS REALLY SURPRISING FOR THE AGE. THE BARK IS DEEP IN TEXTURE WITH NO MAJOR SPLITS, CRACKS OR MISSING BARK. FORGED NAILS HOLD THE IRON BANDS IN PLACE. THERE IS SINEW WRAPPING AT THE TOP OF THE HANDLE MAY BE FOR EXTRA STRENGTH OR A OLD REPAIR. SINEW WAS USED ALLOT BACK IN THE DAY FOR MANY APPLICATIONS. ITS DRY ANIMAL TENDONS TIED TOGETHER.
