The "CROSSMINDS" project (Crossborder Smart Industries) aims to respond to three recent, emerging developments:
CROSSMINDS aims to achieve a better harmonization between the demand and supply of knowledge, and the corresponding knowledge transfer to companies. This goal is achieved by bringing together students and professionals with a technical background from both Belgium and the Netherlands. More specifically, the educational concept is based on four pillars:
To this end, the project will organise masterclasses specifically aimed at professionals and (engineering) students with a technical background. Each educational partner will develop one masterclass on the overarching topic 'smart industries'. Students and professionals will follow one or more masterclasses together, both online and in-person. The masterclass is challenge-based and provides opportunities for working on a real-life case in a cross-border and multidisciplinary team. Possible new collaborations between project partners are also explored, by, among other things, organising inspiration days where new initiatives are presented with a view to further cross-border cooperation.
The project is funded within the Interreg V program Flanders-Netherlands, the cross-border cooperation programme with financial support from the European Regional Development Fund (EFRO). More information: www.grensregio.eu
It is a joint initiative of KU Leuven, Ghent University, Hasselt University, Maastrich University and Fontys (Eindhoven).
